Ian Prowse wears his heart on his sleeve and writes straight from the cuff. He’s a musician/singer/songwriter, the front man of Amsterdam and previously of Pele.

He’s supporting Elvis Costello on his 2020 UK Tour and releasing ‘The story of Ian Prowse’ a retrospective of his career supported by a British acoustic tour.

Raised on the rallying cry of protest songs, influenced by the Celtic sounds that make Liverpool unique and inspired by Paul Weller, Mike Scott and Bruce Springsteen - Ian created Pele a rock n roll band with Celtic soul, releasing 3 albums, 6 singles and a legendary live show.

In 1999, new group, Amsterdam struck up a friendship with Elvis Costello, playing as his band on the Jonathan Ross Show, supporting live shows and recording a duet of the Searchers song ‘Don’t throw your love away’.

‘Does this train stop on Merseyside?’ cemented Ian’s place in the hearts of DJs, songwriters and fans alike. Reducing John Peel to tears live on air. Legend Christy Moore made it the centre piece of his album ‘Listen’ in 2009.

Ian released ‘Does This Train Stop On Merseyside: The Very Best Of Ian Prowse’, two more solo albums ‘Who Loves Ya Baby’ and ‘Companeros’, and re-released Pele albums ‘Fireworks’ and ‘The Sport of Kings’.

In 2019 Ian and producer Tony Kiley recorded ‘Here I Lie’, tackling life, love, loss and Liverpool. Gaining plaudits from songwriters Elvis Costello, Baz Warne, Miles Hunt, Damien Dempsey and top reviews from the music press.
