The band formed when Greg “Dread” Roberts, former drummer of Big Audio Dynamite, teamed up with sound engineer Tim Bran and bassist Leo Williams.

They quickly signed to THE label of the Nineties; Creation Records (formed by Alan McGee in 1983, the label enjoyed massive success after spearheading acid house in the late 1980’s and went on to amass a who’s who of British talent in the 1990’s including Oasis, The Boo Radleys and Super Furry Animals) and released their first album; 360°.

By 1994 Dreadzone had switched to Virgin Records and brought out their second album; Second Light. By now they were firmly established as THE festival band so it was no surprised that they were chosen to open the iconic Glastonbury Festival being the first band to play the Pyramid Stage that year. A performance that John Peel commented as “Dazzlingly good”.

Masters of reinvention, the band have continued to experiment with sound pushing the frontiers of dub, reggae and techno to produce the best beats played in clubs the world over. Having being playing for over twenty years they show no signs of stopping and continue to be the ones to watch whenever they play.

Dreadzone’s is a joyous noise; bouncing beats with samples bashing into live vocals” - Q
